Sarah describes herself as a ‘people and change specialist’. A Chartered Fellow of CIPD, with an MSc in Strategic Personnel and Development, she has experience across a broad range of sectors from retail to technology, in organisations of all sizes from small start-ups to multi-nationals.
A passionate advocate of the power of great leadership, her Marks and Spencer management training was the first chapter of her own leadership story. She later spent over a decade with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, heading up their HR and Organisational Development function. At the RNLI she led the people side of a Lean organisation-wide, transformational change programme including change workshops, management and leadership development, a ‘you said; we did’ campaign to help engage staff through major culture change and the design and implementation of appraisal and performance management systems.
Since relocating to Cornwall in 2013 Sarah has become a Trustee at Cornwall Air Ambulance and a non-executive director at Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust. She also has first-hand experience of starting up two small businesses here in Cornwall. Together with her husband she established Kernowforno, a wedding and events catering company. She also runs The Critical Friend, a consultancy specialising in leadership development, change management and resilience.
Joining Oxford Innovation in 2016 as a Business Coach, Sarah brings pragmatism and common sense to creating a great culture, developing people and managing change.
